Trading within the stock exchange will continue for 2 and a half hours.
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has said that the stock exchange will still trade even within the midst of an all-out lockdown. BSEC executive and spokesman Mohammad Rezaul Karimon said this on Saturday. He said in the interest of investors, transactions within the stock exchange will continue in coordination with the bank.
Earlier, the govt announced a one-week curfew from April 5 to 11 with 11 directives to curb the increase in corona virus infections. then, the transaction time for commercial banks from Bangladesh Bank was fixed from 10 am to 12 noon. Consistent with this, the stock exchange is currently trading for 2 hours from 10 am to 12 noon. The capital market will remain open thanks to strict restrictions taken by the govt to stop corona infection. The choice was taken by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the regulator of the capital market.
BSEC Commissioner Prof Sheikh Samsuddin Ahmed confirmed the matter on Tuesday (April 13th). He said the capital market is prepared for trading at any time. Transactions in our market are done through banks. So we also decided to stay the market open. Trading within the capital market will start at 10 am on Wednesday and can end at 12 noon.
He added that instructions have also been issued to stock exchanges and brokerage houses to conduct transactions in compliance with hygiene rules. A circular was issued by the cupboard Division on Monday on April 12 imposing restrictions from 8 am on Pan American Day to midnight on April 21. At that point , it had been decided to prevent trading and official activities within the capital market.
Then the commissioner of BSEC said, we had all types of preparations for the transaction. But since Bangladesh Bank has stopped the transaction of the bank, our transaction also will be closed. Because we’ve got to transact within the capital market through banks. Meanwhile, on April 13 the country’s capital market transactions from 10 am to 12 noon. The Dhaka stock market features a turnover of 511 crore. The Chittagong stock market features a turnover of 24 crore.
